An exceptional antique Sumba Ikat textile, originating from the Indonesian island of Sumba. This highly collectible piece is a testament to traditional craftsmanship, meticulously handwoven using natural fibers and natural dyes. It features distinctive contrasting striped selvage edges, a hallmark of its authentic origin.

Measuring 48 inches long by 22 inches wide, this textile is preserved in pristine condition, having been carefully kept out of direct sunlight. The intricate Ikat dye-resist process, involving the protection of warp or weft yarns prior to dyeing and weaving, results in unique color variations and patterns. The complex techniques employed to achieve this quality of weaving are largely no longer practiced, making this a rare and valuable artifact for collectors and connoisseurs of global textiles.
