Small, antique Cambodian silver gourd/melon/pumpkin shaped Betel box. Collected by a US government employee stationed in Cambodia in the early 1960s. It is not hallmarked, but tests as high grade silver - probably .800 silver. Weight is 43.9 grams. Estimated early 1900s.
It includes detailed repousse designs on the raised lobes of the "melon" and is capped with a little twisted stem and leaf finial. It measures about 2 1/4" in diameter and 1 3/4" tall. The box is in very good condition with its original patina - I have not polished it. As-is.
