Artist born in Samara, Russia, and educated in the Imperial Forestry Institute. He spent years engaged in scientific exploration of uncharted Siberia. Alexandroff executed drawings for the Museum of the City of New York, Bronx Botanical Garden Museum, and the New York Museum of Natural History.
The bowl represented in the watercolor is from the collection of the Museum of the City of New York. The Chinese screen is also from a museum collection. The flowers depicted are apple blossoms, dogwood, gardenias, and magnolias.
